PLAY SONG

THE GLORY BELONGS TO YOU, LORD

LYRICS: by Paula Vega Vondenstein©2019

(harmonica)
I took away Your praises
And replaced them with my name
I took away Your glory
And replaced it with my fame
I took away Your glory
For the things I did not do
Looking back I’m filled with shame
The glory belongs to You, Lord
The glory belongs to You.

(harmonica solo)

It was You Who gave me talent
It was You Who saw me through
It was You who opened doors for me
The glory belongs to You, Lord
The glory belongs to You.

SONG DESCRIPTION

THE GLORY BELONGS TO YOU, LORD

ABOUT THE SONG:

We serve a jealous God who does not want to share His glory with another. When we take credit for the things that belong to God, we steal His glory. In a world where too much focus is placed on self, “The Glory Belongs to You, Lord,” shifts the focus back on God, who is the provider of every good and perfect gift, including all of our talents. Harold even makes the harmonica weep in this song that is both remorseful and reverential.
